La Colina Hotel Cottage Overview

First Impressions

When I first pulled up to La Colina Hotel Cottage, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the Suba neighborhood — but this five-star property completely changed my perspective on this part of Bogotá. The name “cottage” might throw you off, but don’t picture some rustic cabin. This is luxury hospitality that feels intimate and personal, tucked away on a quiet residential street that somehow manages to feel worlds apart from the city’s chaos.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about Suba — it’s where actual bogotanos live, not just where tourists pass through. You’re about 20 minutes from the historic center (traffic depending, and there’s always traffic), but the trade-off is worth it. The area feels safe and authentic, with local cafés and small shops within walking distance. I mean, couples consistently rate this location highly for good reason — there’s something romantic about being slightly removed from the tourist crowds while still having easy access to everything you need.

The Luxury Experience

The room I stayed in was genuinely impressive — spacious, elegantly designed, and with those little touches that separate a good hotel from a great one. The linens were exceptional (you know how hotel sheets can be hit or miss), and the bathroom felt more like a personal spa than a standard hotel setup. What really struck me was the attention to detail — fresh flowers, quality toiletries, and a level of cleanliness that’s honestly hard to find even in luxury properties. The free private parking is a massive bonus if you’re renting a car, which I’d actually recommend for exploring beyond central Bogotá.

Dining Excellence

The food here is legitimately outstanding — and I’m usually skeptical of hotel dining. Their restaurant serves both continental and American breakfast options, but honestly, go with the continental. The local fruits alone are worth it, and the coffee (this is Colombia, after all) is exactly what you’d hope for. I ended up eating dinner there twice during my stay, which says something since I typically prefer exploring local spots. The staff clearly takes pride in their culinary program, and it shows in every dish.

Why Guests Love It

What sets La Colina apart is how it balances luxury with genuine warmth — something that’s surprisingly rare in high-end hospitality. The service feels personal without being intrusive, and the property manages to create that exclusive feeling without the pretentiousness that sometimes comes with five-star hotels. You’ll find yourself actually relaxing here, which isn’t always guaranteed even when you’re paying premium rates. For couples especially, there’s something special about this place — maybe it’s the intimate scale, or the way the staff remembers your preferences, but it creates those moments that make a trip memorable rather than just comfortable.

Eclectic and cozy place in a residential area. The restaurant is excellent! Definitely make a dinner reservation there. Frederico is great to chat with and all the staff were very gracious.

At Colina Cottage Hotel in Bogotá. This cosy little gem redefines what hospitality means to me. Unlike the big chain hotels that can sometimes feel a bit soulless, Colina Cottage welcomed us with warmth and personal touches that made us feel right at home. Friendly staff such as Nairobi who remembered our names to the cosy rooms that felt more like a friend’s guesthouse than a boring large hotel chain. It’s proof that sometimes, the smaller places leave the biggest impression!

The property is peaceful and has a lot of cozy spots to relax

  • Raquel from Germany (9/10)

Wonderful time at La Colina. This was our second visit and as always it exceeded expectations.

  • Norman from United States (8/10)

The property is quaint and secluded.

  • Jose from United States (9/10)

The staff (Nairobi, Rosana) and Federico (owner) were a very friendly and attentive. Definitely made my stay more enjoyable

The breakfast was super healthy and delicious. The French pressed coffee was the best coffee I’ve had.

The bed was super comfortable. The decoration of the farm house made everything more authentic and a pleasant change from staying in an Airbnb or regular hotel.

La Colina Cottage Hotel exceeded absolutely *every* expectation that I had. It's rare to find an accommodation that sets the standard so high across all categories (staff, facilities, food, cleanliness, comfort, value, etc.), and I can say without any exaggeration that this ranks among my top 3 best hotel experiences ever.

    1. Staff: The owner (Federico) and his team are incredible. There are hotels that go above and beyond what one might expect from an accommodation, but of the 100+ hotels in which I've stayed, Federico (along with only 3 other hoteliers I've met in my travels) delivers a passion, enthusiasm, care, and attention that far exceeds what most could even hope for.

    2. Decor/cleanliness: My impression of the hotel is as positive as my experience with La Colina's staff. Despite the warm, cozy, and welcoming atmosphere – the outdoor fireplace and seating area that overlooks the Bogota hills is the perfect place to unwind after a day of enjoying the city – the hotel feels modern and is decorated with a rotating collection of original art. The property and rooms are also very clean and well maintained, and make for a very comfortable, relaxing stay.

    3. Food: As a night person who usually skips breakfast, it was worth getting up early for. Everything was fresh, tasty, and filling, and this might just be my favourite breakfast of anywhere I've travelled. As for dinner, while most seasoned travellers would recommend eating outside of your hotel, La Colina is well known for its food, and it is a testament to the quality when you see locals from Bogota dining and thoroughly enjoying their meals.
