JW Marriott Hotel Bogotá Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the JW Marriott Hotel Bogotá, you immediately sense you’re somewhere special. The lobby has this sophisticated energy that feels distinctly Colombian — not trying too hard to be international, but genuinely reflecting Bogotá‘s cosmopolitan character. I mean, this is a five-star property that actually earns its stars, and you can tell from the moment the staff greets you. There’s an attention to detail here that honestly surprised me, even coming from other luxury hotels in the region.
Prime Chapinero Location
The location on Calle 73 in Chapinero is — well, it’s pretty much perfect if you want to experience the real Bogotá. You’re right in the heart of one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods, where business meets culture in this really authentic way. What I love is that you can walk to excellent restaurants, art galleries, and that whole Zona Rosa scene, but you’re also perfectly positioned for business meetings in the financial district. Couples especially seem to get this location (and honestly, I can see why — the area has this romantic, urban sophistication that works).
The Room Experience
Let me tell you about the beds — they’re genuinely exceptional. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, and these beds actually live up to the hype that other guests keep mentioning. The room itself strikes this nice balance between luxury and comfort, with floor-to-ceiling windows that give you these sweeping views of the Andes on clear days. The design feels contemporary but warm, and you know what? The little touches matter here — quality linens, proper lighting for reading, and a workspace that actually works if you need to get things done.
Dining and Amenities
Breakfast is where this place really shines — they’ve got this extensive buffet setup that covers everything from traditional Colombian options to international favorites. The continental and American options are solid, but honestly, try the local specialties because the restaurant team knows what they’re doing. The spa facilities are top-notch too, which is perfect after a long day exploring the city or sitting in meetings. And here’s something practical — the free private parking is actually a big deal in this part of Bogotá, where finding a secure spot can be a real headache.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something about this hotel that keeps people coming back — actually, more repeat guests than most places I’ve encountered. I think it’s because the JW Marriott manages to feel both polished and genuinely welcoming, which isn’t always easy to pull off. The staff remembers details about your stay, the service feels personal rather than scripted, and the whole experience just works smoothly. Whether you’re here for business or exploring Bogotá with someone special, this place gets the balance right between luxury and livability.

Breakfast was fantastic!! And the kitchen staff was amazing. I almost cried when they handed me granadilla after they noticed me staring at the center pieces made of that fruit. So kind!!! The facilities are very clean. Location soared us from needing a cab. Every office building was within the walking distance. Loveliest people on staff.

Our stay at the JW Marriot was wonderful. We where celebrating our wedding night and staff where very helpful with the early check in I needed in order to get to the hotel late at night without having to go through the process. Room service the next day was delicious and quick, and they where kind enough to extend our stay by one hour in order to get ourselves together before check out.

The hotel staff is simply amazing. They are friendly, knowledgeable, committed and attentive. Everyone from bell boys to managers are always willing to help with a big smile, and making you feel welcome and pampered. The rooms are comfy, despite being in a busy business, entertainment and residential district (Chapinero), the rooms have excellent noise isolation in the windows, effective blackout curtains (this helps a lot, because Bogotá is close to the equator and days start around 6h all year long), super comfy beds, an array of soft and firm pillows, a nice bathtub, vast space in closet and drawers, along with a large desk to work, and a coach. The swimming pool/spa section is good, but not as good as in other top hotels in Bogotá. The restaurant has nice options for buffet breakfast (some Colombian and international dishes, with amazing fruit, that is a must in Colombia), it is clean and functional. Amenities at this hotel are below those found in other JW Marriott hotels in Qatar, Dubai and super fancy destinations, even below US JW Marriott standards (different international speciality restaurants in the hotel, extended spa facilities, etc), but they are very much in line with other top notch hotels in Latin America. In particular the amenities lag behind those at Bogotá's Four Seasons, but the rates at JW Marriott are considerably lower. However, other cheaper hotels, like Casa Dann (94th Street) have much better spa, swimming pool and jacuzzi areas than this hotel, and an endless buffet breakfast. At any rate, the service at JW Marriott might be an important reason to book there my next trip to Bogotá, the staff is really nice and helpful. In addition, the hotel is comfortably located at reasonable distance from both central and northern Bogotá, it is easy to move around from there, and just at walking distance from great restaurants, bars and entertainment options. I had a wonderful stay.
