AVJ5 – Increíble y Amplio Aparta-Loft en La CAndelaria Overview
First Impressions
When I first walked into AVJ5 – Increíble y Amplio Aparta-Loft en La CAndelaria, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone — but wow, they weren’t kidding about the “increíble” part. This four-star loft-style apartment sits right on Avenida Jimenez de Quesada, and you can immediately feel the energy of historic Bogotá buzzing around you. The space is genuinely spacious (that “amplio” in the name checks out), with high ceilings and an open layout that makes you forget you’re in the heart of one of South America’s busiest capitals.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about staying in La Candelaria? You’re literally walking through Colombian history every time you step outside. I mean, this neighborhood is where Bogotá began back in 1538, and you can feel that weight — in the best possible way. The cobblestone streets can be a bit tricky with luggage (fair warning), but you’re within walking distance of the Gold Museum, Bolívar Square, and some of the most authentic local eateries I’ve found anywhere in the city. Recent guests have been rating this location a perfect 10.0, and honestly, I get it — you can’t beat being this central without the tourist trap feeling.
The Space
The loft design actually works really well here — it feels more like staying in a local friend’s place than a typical hotel room. The kitchen is fully equipped, which I appreciated since eating out for every meal in Bogotá can add up quickly. There’s something satisfying about making your morning coffee while looking out at the historic buildings across the street. The sleeping area is comfortable, and the whole space gets great natural light during the day, though you’ll want to keep the windows closed if street noise bothers you — this is a lively part of town, especially on weekends.
Getting Around
One thing I really appreciated was how easy it is to explore from here. The TransMilenio system has stops nearby, so getting to other parts of Bogotá is straightforward once you figure out the routes (which, let’s be honest, takes a day or two). Taxis and Uber work well from this address too. Parking can be tricky if you’re driving — this is old-city territory with narrow streets — but most visitors are better off without a car anyway.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is that perfect balance between authentic local experience and actual comfort. You’re not staying in some sanitized hotel bubble — you’re in the real Candelaria, with all its character and quirks. Couples seem to particularly love it here (the feedback mentions they rate it highly for romantic trips), and I can see why — there’s something undeniably romantic about staying in a historic loft in one of Latin America’s most culturally rich neighborhoods. The space gives you room to breathe and plan your days, while the location puts you right in the middle of everything that makes Bogotá special.

The location is great, you're in walking distance of the Gold Museum, an ATM, as well as many restaurants.
The room itself is spacious! Heaps of room, it's fresh, well kept, stocked. It's a modern renovated apartment and all entry doors are electronic. Amenities are optimal and very nice for the price! As a solo traveller I recommend this place.Hamza from Spain (8/10)
