Matisse Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Matisse Hotel, you immediately get the sense that someone put real thought into this place. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t — this three-star property in Chapinero has a clean, artistic vibe that feels both welcoming and sophisticated without being stuffy. The lobby has this understated elegance that hints at the hotel’s namesake, with thoughtful design touches that make you pause and appreciate the details. You know what strikes me most? It feels authentically Bogotá rather than like a generic international chain.
The Chapinero Advantage
Honestly, the location is what really sets this place apart. Chapinero is one of those neighborhoods that locals actually hang out in — not just a tourist zone. You’re walking distance from Zona Rosa’s restaurants and nightlife, but you’re also close enough to the business district that it works for work trips too. I mean, couples rate this area highly for good reason — there’s something romantic about strolling through the tree-lined streets, and you’ve got easy access to both the cultural attractions and the kind of authentic Colombian experiences that make a trip memorable. The metro connections are solid, which actually matters when you’re trying to explore a sprawling city like Bogotá.
The Rooms
The accommodations hit that sweet spot between comfort and character. My room was well-appointed without feeling overdone — clean lines, good lighting, and a bed that didn’t leave me counting sheep. The bathrooms are modern and functional, with decent water pressure (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given in this price range). What I appreciated most was the attention to soundproofing — Bogotá can be noisy, but I slept well here. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully laid out so the space works efficiently.
Service and Atmosphere
The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, which makes a difference when you’re navigating a new city. They’re knowledgeable about the neighborhood and happy to point you toward good restaurants or help with transportation. There’s this relaxed professionalism that feels very Colombian — warm but not intrusive. The common areas have a nice energy too, with a mix of business travelers and couples creating a pleasant buzz without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where you might actually want to hang out in the lobby with a coffee.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Matisse Hotel delivers on the fundamentals while offering something a bit special. The combination of the prime Chapinero location, solid amenities, and that artistic sensibility creates an experience that feels both comfortable and memorable. For the price point, you’re getting excellent value — especially considering how much you save by being able to walk to great restaurants and attractions instead of constantly taking taxis. It’s particularly well-suited for couples looking for a romantic base in Bogotá, but honestly, anyone who appreciates good design and a well-run operation will find plenty to like here.

Great location. Friendly staff. Room cleaned daily and bed made. Door to front was kept locked to help guests feel more secured.

Super nice staff! The location was great – a good part of Chapinero, safe and centrally located in the city. As an Uber pickup spot (which you'll use all the time) – super easy and convenient, and if you prefer to take the TransMilenio and other city buses, there are stops very very close.
The bed sheets were especially comfortable – very soft! For being on the corner of a major road and just being in the city – I was surprised how quiet it was.
They prepare breakfast for you (several choices), which were all delicious.Felipe from Brazil (8/10)

Breakfast was really delicious although the selection was a bit limited. There is some noise from nearby streets, but the location is very convenient for Chapinero. The staff were very helpful and the room was spacious and pretty.
