First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Splendor by Friends Company on Avenida La Esperanza, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect — the name sounds a bit corporate, doesn’t it? But you know what, this four-star property actually surprised me in the best way. The building sits right in the heart of Teusaquillo, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Bogotá, but it definitely knows what it’s doing.

Here’s the thing about this location — couples absolutely love it here, and I can see why. Teusaquillo is one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically bogotano without being touristy or overly polished. You’re close enough to the action (the Zona Rosa is maybe 15 minutes away), but you’re also in this residential area where you can actually experience how locals live. I mean, there are proper Colombian cafés within walking distance, not just the international chains you’ll find in other parts of the city. The fact that guests consistently rate the location so highly tells you everything you need to know.

Your Room and Comfort

The room I stayed in was — well, it was exactly what you’d want from a solid four-star place. Clean, comfortable, with that slightly modern Colombian aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard. The beds are actually good (you know how hit-or-miss hotel beds can be), and the bathrooms are properly sized. Nothing groundbreaking, but honestly, sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well. The windows face the street, so you get a genuine slice of Bogotá life happening below.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast here leans American, which might sound odd in Colombia, but it actually works. They’ve got the usual suspects — eggs, bacon, toast — but they also sneak in some local touches that make it feel less generic. The coffee is properly Colombian (thank goodness), and the restaurant area has this relaxed morning vibe where you can ease into your day. I appreciated that they didn’t try to overcomplicate things — sometimes a straightforward breakfast is exactly what you need before exploring the city.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Hotel Splendor isn’t going to blow your mind with flashy amenities or Instagram-worthy design. What it does is provide a genuinely comfortable base in one of Bogotá’s most livable neighborhoods, with reliable service and that private parking situation (which, if you’re driving in Bogotá, you’ll appreciate more than you know). The staff seems to actually care about making your stay work, and there’s something to be said for a place that focuses on getting the fundamentals right rather than chasing trends. For the price point, it’s honestly hard to argue with what you’re getting here.

  My stay at Hotel Splendor far exceeded my expectations. Of course, one should not expect the service and comfort of a five-star hotel; However, I had the accommodation at a really affordable price. Plase take it into account when reading.
  There were few reviews in English, so I am mainly writing this review to be useful to other English-speaking travelers:
  
  I took a risk when choosing such an economically affordable hotel. However, for this price, you can get a reasonably large room, a comfortable bed and acceptable speed internet.
  The employees usually only speak Spanish, but by using translation applications and some facial expressions, we were able to solve all the problems 🙂
  
  I would like to thank again the cleaning staff who left my room spotless every day and the receptionist Alexander who helped me a lot in every way.
  
  The area was also very quiet and safe. You can stay with peace of mind. There are two small Exito shops, cafes and pastry shops nearby. Transportation is very convenient and easy with Uber.
