Hotel Dios Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Dios in the heart of Bogotá’s Candelaria district, you immediately sense you’ve found something special. This four-star boutique property sits right on Carrera 3, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you’re here to actually experience the city’s colonial soul. The building itself has that perfect balance — historic charm without feeling like you’re sleeping in a museum.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in Candelaria — you’re literally in the beating heart of historic Bogotá, but Hotel Dios manages to feel like a peaceful retreat from all the energy outside. You can walk to Plaza Bolívar in about five minutes, and the Gold Museum is practically next door. I mean, couples consistently rate this location 9.3 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. During the day, you’re surrounded by street art, colonial architecture, and that amazing buzz of local life, but step inside the hotel and there’s this immediate sense of calm.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this wonderful mix of modern comfort and subtle nods to Colombian design — nothing too heavy-handed, just thoughtful touches that remind you where you are. The beds are genuinely comfortable (which isn’t always a given in boutique hotels), and the bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy. What really impressed me was the attention to soundproofing — given that you’re in such a lively neighborhood, you might expect street noise, but the rooms stay surprisingly quiet at night.
Dining & Daily Rhythms
The hotel’s restaurant serves breakfast that actually makes you want to get up in the morning — fresh tropical fruits, excellent Colombian coffee (obviously), and a good mix of international and local options. The staff here really knows their stuff about the neighborhood too. They’ll point you toward the best local spots for lunch, or help you figure out the safest routes if you’re planning to explore on foot. You know what’s nice? They treat you like a person, not just another tourist passing through.
Why Guests Love It
Look, there are fancier hotels in Bogotá’s Zona Rosa, but if you want to actually feel connected to the city’s history and culture, Hotel Dios hits that sweet spot perfectly. The 8.7 guest rating reflects what I experienced — solid comfort, genuine hospitality, and that unbeatable location that puts you right where the action is. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself lingering in the lobby with a coffee, planning your next adventure through the cobblestone streets, or just watching the world go by. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about being tucked away in this historic corner of the city while still having all the modern amenities you need.
Early hotels booking in Bogota secures graffiti tours, coffee farm day trips, and Monserrate sunrise tables.

Reviews of Hotel Dios

This is a beautiful hotel situated right in the middle of Bogotá’s historical centre, close to great museums, bars and restaurants. It’s stylish and well furnished whilst retaining original historical features (like internal courtyards and incredible wood panelling). The breakfasts and dinners (in the hotel’s own restaurant) were absolutely superb – really high quality menus, local ingredients and presentation! Finally, the staff were so helpful and accommodating. When our outbound flight was cancelled, Pedro and Esperanza made every effort to make sure we were comfortable and provided for whilst we waited for our replacement flight. I highly recommend a stay here if you’re visiting Bogotá!

The location was great and I'm glad we stayed there; walking distance to the major attractions in La Candelaria. One of the things I'd read before the trip was that the area was dangerous at night but it didn't feel that way. There are a lot of restaurants and bars opening up in the area too.
We liked the hotel as it was just 3 rooms and when we stayed we were the only guests. Rooms were large and despite what I'd read in some reviews, the heating worked well.
I enjoyed the breakfasts but my wife doesn't really like eggs and for four days we had eggs for breakfast.Natalie from United States (9/10)
Wonderful hospitality at the Hotel Dios; all of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This boutique hotel is full of artistic touches and unique design. It has a great location in the Candelaria neighborhood convenient for many tourist destinations. The restaurant was also excellent, and we looked forward to our delicious breakfasts!
